Busting common myths about accessibility - and where to start. 

Is accessibility part of your remit as a Programme Manager, Product Owner, Digital Transformation Manager, UX Lead, Designer, Developer or QA Tester? In this session, we’ll explore common assumptions about accessibility and bust some myths, including: 

• “Using an accessible component library means we’re covered.” 

• “If we’ve ticked off the WCAG checklist, we’re done.” 

• “Accessibility is all about code, so it’s just the developers’ responsibility.” 

We'll talk through some different approaches you can take, and how teams can collaborate across disciplines to move accessibility from a specialist task into everyone’s day-to-day work. This is a session Meri delivered at LocalGov Drupal Camp 2025 in early July. After the amazing reception it received, we’re opening it up to everyone who’s interested in understanding common assumptions about accessibility.
